PRESS RELEASE

Miroirs

March 31 - April 10, 2022 Schildedreef 22, Antwerp/Schilde.

Grège Gallery presents "Miroirs" by the Spanish-Guinea artist Chidy Wayne in an original venue in Schilde/Antwerp.

From March 31th to April 10th, 2022, Grège Gallery will host an exhibition in the brutalist villa of the Belgian architect A. W. Robert Janvier, in Antwerp (Schilde).

This is already the second exhibition that Brussels-based Marie de Brouwer, founder of the Grège Gallery is now initiating. The first project took place in the Round Building of the Castle Park of Westmalle in September last year.

The young and dynamic 25 year old always tries to pick a striking architectural location to combine with art. This time it is the brutalist house of Robert Janvier. The villa is a cube-shaped building with influences from Le Corbusier and the principle Less is More .

Chidy Wayne who lives and works in Barcelona is a multidisciplinary artist with works ranging from paintings, sculptures, illustrations, music to animation.

The Spanish-Guinean creates works that are aesthetic and conceptual, he puts aside the superfluous and thus goes deeper into his drawings resulting in a fluid and minimalist style.

Chidy Wayne realizes a great symbolic meaning in his drawings that are the result of long philosophical reflection. His work is characterized by universal and timeless themes such as existence, identity and inner conflict. Influenced by artistic avant-gardism as well as ancestral and cultural elements. As a result, the drawings have a primitive character combined with an urbanistic and contemporary forms that he depicts with confidence and energy on large canvases.

The preview will take place on 31 March, Schildedreef 22, Schilde 2970 from 18h on invitation. The exhibition runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until April 10, 2022 from 11am to 5pm. (other weekdays by appointment).
